Fall is in the Air

How was the weather in your neck of the woods today? Ours was crisp air, and a light breeze.

Today was day 1 of the of our 4 days off from work. We started it out with a 5:30 AM workout in the basement with Ash. I was so tired and wanted to just sleep in, but as soon as I felt how cold that basement was, I was instantly ready and motivated to get warm. We completed Fire 30 today. Afterwards, Court and I felt really energized, so we decided to take a nice morning walk around the neighborhood.

 We walked for about 45 min, and then came home craving something warm and yumm-ay. Today’s bowl of oats was a Warm stove top cooked bowl of Carrot Cake Oats!

 In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp flax seeds
  • Cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla
  • 6 shredded carrots
  • 1/4 of a chopped mango
  • Pineapple tidbits
  • coconut
  • 1/4 cup egg whites
  • pinch brown sugar
  • drizzle of agave

Top w/

  • Yogurt cottage cheese Icing
  • Pecans

 Paired with some Vanilla Iced Coffee. We had a huge mess to clean up after this breakfast! lol. Dirty dishes were everywhere.

 After breakfast, we finished off our workouts for the day with Jillian Michael’s “No more Trouble Zones” lifting 5 lbs the whole time again. Whew! All those reps with heavier weights than usual really makes you sweat and feel the burn. lol.

On Weight training days, Court and I are both always Starvin’ Marvins. Anyone else? So by 11:30, we were all showered up, and heading to the kitchen once again to make up some lunch. Do you remember the Protein Pizza’s of Katie’s we have made before? Well, we made them again, but today they were more of Italian style.  

 Italian Style Protein Pizza

  • 3/4 cup eggwhites-Broil for 5-10 min

Then add:

  • 2 tbs Ragu Alfredo Sauce
  • Fresh basil
  • spinach
  • onions
  • garlic
  • tomatoes out of the garden
  • 1 Morning star sausage link
  • sprouts
  • veggies
  • Pepper
  • Organic Parsley Cheddar cheese

 We don’t have many groceries in the house, since we are going out of town to the mountains tomorrow, so Dinner was just a bunch of random leftover cereals that were nearly empty, with some Almond butter toast.

 Simple.

 This almond butter is “NEW” to us…

 Here are the stats. I am liking that ingredient list.

 Verdict? ~ So creamy and lush 🙂 A+

Using the zucchini Bread recipe from our Xagave cookbook, we received a while back, we made the a sweet healthy tasting version. This was a great makeover to the traditional recipe our mom usually makes. This one uses Xagave in place of sugar, and whole wheat pastry flour.

 Perfect for Dessert!

It is looking like a movie night with the sisters, so I’m off to go watch “The Killers.” I love Katherine Heigl!

Flax Oil… You may have heard of it, but do you use it?

After seeing a few bloggers use Flax oil, it really got Court and I thinking. What are the benefits? How do you use it…in shakes,oats,straight up? Well with little research here is what we have found out about the benefits portion:

  • Lower cholesterol, protect against heart disease and control high blood pressure
  • Control constipation, haemorrhoids, diverticular disorders and gallstones
  • Treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, sunburn and rosacea
  • Promote healthy hair and nails
  • Minimize nerve damage that causes numbness and tingling as well as other disorders
  • Reduce cancer risk and guard against the effects of ageing:
  • Treat menopausal symptoms, menstrual cramps, female infertility and endometriosis

That is just some basic stuff, but if you do use Flax-Oil, please fill us in on the benefits you have achieved, and your favorite way to use it.

Today we had a 5 AM workout Wake-up call with Ashley in the basement completing HIIT 15, and Tone 3o. We’ve done the HIIT 15 many times now, and it still is way harder than the longer videos. We were all so sweaty, flushed, and breathing heavy. That class consists of 3 circuits which you repeat for 3 times each, and there is about a 30 second rest between each round. Today we all had work at 8, and we ended up finishing our workout at promptly 5:55 AM. With heavy feeling weak legs after that intense workout, we all slowly made our way upstairs to the kitchen for some Breakfast. Lets just call this mornings oat Combo Amazing Chocolate Strawberry oats!

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 tsp flaxseed
  • 1 scoop Chocolate Amazing meal
  • 1/2 EAS Light Vanilla protein shake
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup strawberries
  • 2 tbs egg whites
  • Top with: Justin’s Honey Peanut  Butter

Court and I really liked that Egg Salad wrap that we ate during Inferno week, so we recreated it for lunch today. We used Flat-out wraps, and paired some juicy grapes with it 🙂

 After a long 8 hour shift, we are finally home sitting down, and enjoying some leftover pizza from last night. The weather is real nice out, so lately most our meals have been eaten out on the deck under the cazibo. (Fyi, i do not know how to spell that. lol)

Bring a lil’ Carrot Cake into your Life!~

Fridays are great aren’t they? Today Court and I were tired, we did not even get up till like 8:30 which felt really late compared to usual.  I was actually up before Court, but then like the nice little sis I am, I woke her up gently with “Good morning Sunshine, Let’s make Pancakes.” LOL. She was all “Whitney I’m tired.” But then I went downstairs started the pot of coffee and as soon as I went back up she was awake. After much debate on which pancakes to make, I came up with Carrot Cake Pancakes. The idea was genius, and here is how they turned out:   

   

 Ingredients   

Serves 2: Makes 7 pancakes(3 1/2 each)~ 1/4 cup mix per pancake 

  1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  1/3 cup Old Fashioned Oats
  1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  1 tsp Cinnamon
  1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  1/4 cup Shredded carrots
  2 tbsp Raisins
  1/2 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
  1/4 cup Egg White
  2 tbsp Walnuts
  2 Pineapple Ring Slices

  Ash wanted us to meet her for lunch today on her break, so She made a HUGE veggie wrap for us all to share, and then we got Froyo at Yogurtland.

  When Ashley and our mom got off work, we all did the Fire 55 EZ class, and it was a fun sweaty mess. After that went to BIG 5 to look for some discounted Hiking boots. If you have not been there in a while, Go! They have got some killer deals on all Fitness equipment. It is like a TJMAXX for Excercise gear. Awesome 🙂 On monday all of us girls are going on a long 8 hour hike. Yikes! Girl’s gotta be prepared for something like that, so some new shoes were in desperate need. Dinner was simply leftovers from lastnight. We were good girlies, and ate the old food first instead of out tonight. Also, btw we searched high and low for the Carrot Cake Larabars today, and still no luck at all, even Whole foods had none!  Court and I have really wanted to go see Ramona and Beesuas. IDK how you spell that. lol. Any who did it come out today? 

Our past with Cottage Cheese has not been a positive one, but we have decided to give it another go. Does anyone have a great recipe or favorite way to use Cottage cheese? Also, share your best and favorite pancake recipes. Perhaps we will make them next Friday.  

  Fun-Fact-Friday~~

 

 For our sixteenth birthday, I threw a big surprise Party for Court with all of our BFF’s. It was 80’s themed, and everyone dressed up. We did karaoke, watched 16 candles, and even the cake was some old school records. Here is a pic from that night:
