2 days to Freedom that last 3 months

2 Jun

Hola Amigos!

Today was the last real day of school, so now we gotta just make it through finals tomorrow and Friday. Then, a weekend of work, and were off to stay at the condo in Yellowstone for a week to do a little rafting. First period instead of reviewing for the final the dumb teacher had us doing a lab that my group got at “F” on anyways. Lame! He was all “This class is terrible, none of you are Chemist.” Lol, no kidding teach we were not the one’s who got Chemistry Degrees. After that class, other things to get done included scheduling the English final for tomorrow, and getting my grade fixed since the teacher put in F’s on stuff I turned in. It’s all good now though, back up to an A. During 4th period, I had Geo/Trig where we reviewed, and Court had Body works where she took the Pacer running test. When school was finally out at 2:54, we met up at our locker and cleaned it out so that we don’t have to worry about it on Friday. There was so much trash, random papers, and wrappers everywhere.

Last night’s dinner was a whole wheat wrap filled with brown rice, leftover goat cheese turkey burger, shrimp, guac, and humus

And on the side were BBQ soy crisps and a Pickle

With all this heat of summer’s bringing, we decided another bowl of Overnight Oat’s were a must this morning. And since it was our Late Day Wednesday we also enjoyed a cup of Moore Vermont Maple Coffee while looking at the grocery ads for the week.

Blueberry Overnight Oats

  • 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

In the morning add:

  • 1/2 container of Blueberry Okios greek yogurt
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Creamy PB
  • Kashi Golean Crunch
  • Silvered almonds

Mid-morning snack eaten in 3rd period was a Cookie Dough Luna. I love love love these! They are like that candy bar that Nestle used to sell called the cookie dough candy bar. MMM!

 Lunch:

  • humus Bell Pepper Sammie
  • Apples with Naturally more Almond Butter and Cinnamon
  • 2 Newman’s own cookies (Fig newton, and Hermitt)

After-School Snack:

  • 1 slice Raisin Pecan Rice Bread
  • 1/2 container blueberry greek okios
  • Strawberries
  • Kashi
  • 1 Alphabet Newman’s own cookie

After our tummies settled, we did a FREE 45 min workout ONDEMAND. It was Jackie Warner’s Total Body workout. This lady is a crazy celebrity trainer, who really knows how to give your body some mean strength training. Totally recommend this video.

Dinner was taking the easy way out tonight. Just simply some frozen Pizza and salad.

 Supreme and Tuscan Chicken

 Mixed Greens!

 Dessert:

A single square if this lovely dark chocolate.

**Verdict: Yum, definatly a coffee lovers chocolate. Words to describe this lovely would be a luscious dark chocolate with crunch sweet espresso chips inside 🙂

Focus and Zen

11 May

Hello, hello everyone!

Many of you high school readers out there only have a few weeks of school. And you know what that means… it is time to focus, pull up your grades, and get through this last stretch before FINALS! So here are some foods that are best for focus:

FOR EXTRA BRAINPOWER

  • Salmon or Mackerel
The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish are one of the primary building blocks of brain tissue.

For Focus

  • Peppermint Tea
Researchers found that it took a mere whiff of peppermint to increase subjects’ concentration and performance on tedious tasks.

For an Energy Boost

  • A Handful of Trail Mix
Raisins provide potassium, which you body uses to convert sugar into energy. Nuts stock your body with magnesium, which is important in metabolism, nerve function, and muscle function.

For Sharper Senses

  • 1 Tbs. of Ground Flaxseed Daily
Flax is the best source of alpha-linolenic acid a healthy fat that improves the workings of the cerebral cortex, the area of the brain that processes sensory information.

For Short-Term Memory

  • Coffee
Fresh-brewed joe is the ultimate brain fuel. Caffeine has been shown to retard the aging process and enhance short-therm memory performance.

For Long-Term Memory

  • Blueberries
Antioxidants in blueberries help protect the brain from free-radical damage, which could decrease your risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and improve cognitive processing.

Well now on to the eats… here’s a recap of last night:

Dinner was a slice of BBQ chicken pizza on Nann’s and a slice of pepperoni/ham pizza.

Yum! This was definitely my fave 🙂

Dessert: Honey greek yogurt and 100 calories pack Oreo’s which Whit and I split. Look how many there are even with only half the bag!

Now on to today. It was a cold, dreary, rainy “B” day. We went to a long day of school then came home, ate a snack and did a yoga download: Yoga Sculpt 1. This was by far the hardest yoga I have ever done(even harder than P90X 1.5 hr video)! We downloaded the 45 min. class for $5.99. This workout was amazing. It incorporates Yoga with WEIGHTS! OMG… by the time it his 25 min., Whit and I were about to give up but instead sucked it up and finished 🙂 By the end of the video I was dripping sweat and already having muscle spasms. Never underestimate yoga, this workout was intense 😉

This morning’s breakfast was PB&J oats

We were out of banana’s so we opted. for strawberry and apple slices instead. It was still amazing as always.

Mid-morning snack: Toasted Nuts ‘n Cranberry Luna- This was not the best flavor of Luna, but it was not bad.

Lunch was a veggie salad paired with apple chips, dried mango, and almonds.

Afterschool snack: yogurt mess with kefir in my mini mu bowl!

Dinner: spaghetti. We used leftover hot dog buns to make garlic bread.

Dessert: Peanut Butter Cup Vita with hot cocoa!

Verdict: This was my second best flavor next to the mint! There were a bunch of peanut butter kisses in every bite, and heated was peanut butter heaven!

Well I am off to read some more Kite Runner, have a good night!

Friday night recap, it was Bananas!

24 Apr

The weather continued to be wack for the rest of the night, as you can see from the backyard shot.

So, it being Friday in all, there could not be anything more we would want than PIZZA! Of my golly, we made a Digorno Tuscan Flatbread chicken one, and a garlic bread pepperoni one. They were delish paired with some roasted veggies.

A “Keep Frozen” package came in the mail today, and guess what it was Diana’s Banana’s!!! Yay, we were uber excited to break open one of these 6 boxes tonight.

About them from their website:

Meet the happiest bananas in the world.

At Diana’s Bananas, we do it right—making the finished product is a 14-step procedure that includes purchasing, testing, peeling, sizing, freezing and dipping—and you’ll taste the results of our hard work in every delicious bite!

Our team personally selects only fully ripe, creamy, sweet white bananas, which we quick freeze to -20 degrees fahrenheit. The result is an easy-to-bite banana with texture so smooth, you’ll think you’re eating ice cream.

After our quick freezing process, we dip the bananas in real bar chocolate. We never use chocolate flavored coatings or other inferior substitutes. The world’s best bananas deserve real chocolate—you do, too!
