Its the start of week 8!

24 May

5/22-5/24

Hello there, I think it is about time for a weekend/ mountain of a Monday wrap-up!

Saturday- We woke up at 6 am, then headed off to the job. It was the first day we worked with all of the new coffee’s. The customer’s at our Einstein’s consist mostly of old retired people, and they were pissed about the whole new set up. I was cashier, and Whit was on the line all day making sandwiches. Each customer made it loud and clear to me that they hated the new set up. When work was over, we came home and I showered up and put on my jammies. 🙂 There is nothing like changing into some loose clothes after a long day of work. Once I was all comfy, I sat down to a nice dinner and an awesome finale episode of Grey’s Anatomy. It is weird, but the only times I have seen this show is when it is the finale!

The comment’s consisted of:
“I want to be able to pour my own coffee, this is dumb.”
“The only reason we have always come here is because it is not like Starbucks.”
“This is only going to make things harder on you guys.”

ect…. ect….

There is nothing that I can do but listen to the negative comments and give the feedback back to the boss. Oh well, I LOVE the new set up. It is so fresh and exciting. I love being able to use a $15,000 coffee machine and make every drink to perfection!

Sunday- The comments were even more negative and people started taking it out on me. I had about had it. Every little mistake or things taking too long were blamed on me, when I was clearly cashing people out all day and had absolutely nothing to do with their food/drink! Any who I shook it off and crashed when I got home.
Now on to the eats….

Friday night we whipped out a pumpkin bolani out of the freezer. It tasted so good paired with Summer’s fruit(mango) and a fresh salad.

**Verdict: What can I say, anything with pumpkin(esp. a wrap), wins my vote!

Saturday’s breakfast was homemade vegan blueberry cornmeal pancakes. We used a recipe out of our “Eat, Drink, Be Vegan” book. It was a little too crumbly. I think I will probably have to tweak the recipe next time. We mashed some banana, added a drizzle of agave, and sprinkled some Vanilla Almond Galaxy Granola on top.

A packed lunch consisted of Barley with shrimp and a side of dried fruit.

For dinner, we were craving some carbs so a Tuna Fish Panini it was. What can I say I guess it was a fishy kinda day..lol.

My family always sticks BBQ chips on Tuna Fish sammies, so we thought what a perfect time to try these:

I am lovin’ all of the goods from Newman’s Own! Check out the stats:

**Verdict: Very similar to Quaker Rice Quakes. They were overall guiltless puffs of flavor!

And for dessert was a Court and Whit original:
Toffee Chocolate Cheesecake

The recipe is as follows:

  • 2 tbs. Pillsbury Brownie Mix/ the mix of your choice
  • 1 tbs. Sugar-free fat free cheesecake jello mix
  • 1 tsp. toffee chips
  • 1/8 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 pkt of NuNaturals Stevia/ sweetener of choice
  • 1 tbs. egg whites
  • t tbs. greek yogurt
  • 2 tbs. hot water
  • dash of salt

Place all of the ingredients into a microwaved safe bowl sprayed with nonstick spray, and microwave for 2-3 minutes(ours took 3).
*The entire recipe is about 147 calories

Sunday’s breakfast was PB&J oats with a few additions…

We added greek yogurt, dates, and granola in addition.

Lunch was a classic fruit salad and a Cashew Almond Prana.

**Verdict: If you do not like crunchy, then this bar is not for you. 😛 Luckily I love crunchy, hence all of the kashi bars I like! All of the nuts in this bar were amazing! One word to describe this bar…. crunchtastic lol.

Finally on to today. After having the mocha cappuccino bolthouse oats the other day, we had a strong craving for another bowl!

We topped our oats with some of these guys:

**Verdict: tastes like giant chocolate animal crackers. They were pretty big so only a few were needed 🙂

Today was an “A” day/short day, so we came home and made this yummy lunch:

Turkey, guac, and onion on a leftover hamburger bun and some fresh fruit(mango, watermelon and kiwi). It was so delish…. I gobbled it up!

Also served alongside was some Fiber Gourmet Nacho snax!

Here is the nutritional info….

Some meal ideas with Fiber Gourmet…

And a comparison to Kelloggs! Not too shabby right 😉

**Verdict: Cheesy and salty= love. This company has an amazing ability to recreate all of my fav. snacks!

After lunch Whit and I each had a square of this chocolate.

**Verdict: I have never had Mocha chocolate before, but it was crazy rich. I could have easily ate the whole bar!

And now on to the last review of the day: a Lemon Poppyseed Heart Thrive that Whit and I had for an afternoon snack.

Each pack serves two, so we each had a heart. Each package contains more calcium than a glass of milk!

Here is some info. from their website:

      “No Trans Fats! “

“Heart Thrives are a delicious, VEGAN and NON-GMO energy bar. Made with oats, soy and dried fruits, each Heart Thrive supplies 30% daily PROTEIN, FIBER and CALCIUM.”

“Heart Thrives are made from ingredients with a low glycemic index that metabolize slowly providing sustained energy for hours. “

**Verdict: I have only ever tried Poppy Seed Muffins, but in a bar was sooo good. Why don’t they make more creative bar flavors like this company? The heart make look little, but it is very dense and filling. It kept me full till dinner!

Today has been kind of a spontaneous day. After lunch, instead of getting right into our workout, homework, chores, ect. we did absolutely nothing. Everybody needs one of those days every once in a while right?! Whit read some blogs, and I took about a 30 min. power nap. We could have got a lot done being our early day, but I could just find no motivation.

In the afternoon, Whit and I completed 30 day shred level 1 then made breakfast burritos for the fam. for dinner.

Well it is about time to actually get some school work done. Before I go I wanted to tell you all about an idea Whit and I have been thinking about for a while now. After about reading Fitnessista’s summer shape up plan, we have been thinking about coming up of one of our own to be featured on our blog. It would be for teens, young people, heck anyone who is interested. Will anyways, we would love to hear all of your feedback!

Hw, sleep, days off, and review time baby!

2 May

Hey!

Long time no see? This week was great, but it is crunch time until Summer. Therefore, the homework is piling on a mile long. Guess what though…
week four is officially crossed off!

Thurs. 4/29-

Thursday’s breakfast was a real treat. With our second VIP coupon that Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels sent us to review, we picked out these lovelies:

Cinnamon Roll Pretzels

Last week we reviewed the grilled cheese pretzels. I love both the sweet and savory pretzels!

Pretty good stats, eh?

Alongside was pb banana date babies and something new and incredible, MAPLE STEAMERS

Doesn’t this whole meal look so gourmet lol.

Verdict: It is like a cross between a cinnamon sugar pretzel and a cinnamon roll which are both amazing. Who wouldn’t love a cinna-sugar pretzel with cinnamon roll filling with a nice icing drizzled over the top= pure bliss 😛

 *NEW STEAMER*

Here is how you make our new creation:

  • 1 cup of skim milk
  • 2-3 drops of maple extract or imitation
  • 1 packet of Stevia
  • lots of cinnamon

Heat in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and enjoy! So simple and tastes heavenly.

Mid-morning snack was a Blueberry Bliss Luna. I love the crunchy sugary stuff on top 🙂

Lunch was a packed salad that consisted of:

-mixed greens
-turkey
-veggies
-avocado
-humus
-italian spray dressing

Alongside was of course, a pink lady with pb and pumpkin!

Look at that protein packed salad 😉

After school our snack was a raspberry chobani with kefir, granola, strawberries, blueberries, puffins, and pb.

Workout: We were short on time so did the shred again, this time Level 2

Dinner= moms night

Dinner was some delicious Stouffers no preservative lasagna with cheechas, carrots & hummus, and corn on the cobb(not pictured)

Whit and I have been dying to try Stoneyfield’s new Okios chocolate flavor. So after they sent us some VIP coupons to review their products, we made sure to pick us up a box of these. Tonight we broke out the box, and whipped us up a chocolately dessert. 🙂

We also sprinkled some of our You Trail Mix on Top! Voila.

Yogurt verdict: At first when you take off the wrapper, it just looks like plain yogurt, but then when you stir it around all of the chocolate is on the bottom. This yogurt was definitely made for dessert. It is the best way to get your chocolate fix a healthy way. I will definitely be buying this again. Next up…. the Caramel flavor!

Trail Mix verdict: We have tried everything from you bars, shakes, and now trail mix. This company never disappoints. The chocolate peanuts were the best part of this whole mix, and they were just the right topping for my yogurt. Talk about having a choco coma. lol

Friday- 4/30

Friday was a lovely “A” day/ early day. First period was just a pep assembly for prom, and second period was just notes. Before Whit and I left school we had to take the accuplacer test to see if we are eligible to be in college algebra next year. After that we were finally free to start our week end. We came home ate lunch, then took the longest nap in this years history…. 4 glorious hours! It was much needed, I feel like I have not slept in weeks lol.

Breakfast was Maple Streusel Oats. I love all of these new brands of oats that Safeway is starting to carry.

I took a pic. because I thought it was a really cute package. You just rip off the top and it has a line on the paper of where to fill the water too. Pretty cool huh! Then you do not have to make a billion dishes by getting out your measuring spoons.

Toppings were peanut butter, honey greek yogurt, apples, and granola!

On Thursday night we received a ginormous package of goodies from Western Bagel

Here is a little history straight from their website:

“In early 2002, to meet the growing health concerns of consumers, Western Bagel set out to create a healthy, reduced carbohydrate bagel without sacrificing taste. In October of 2002, The Alternative Bagel™ was introduced. At first, it only came in two varieties: Country White and Roasted Onion. These new bagels truly took Southern California by storm! Because of such tremendous success, two new varieties were created: Sweet Wheat and Cinnamon Spice. Soon after, because of overwhelming demand, The Alternative Bagel™ not only had nationwide distribution, but was also available to order directly through our website.”

They were very generous and sent us 4 of their alternative bagel flavors to review:

  • Sweet Wheat
  • Roasted Onion
  • Italian Herb
  • Very Blueberry

And…..

 Alternative English muffins….. and

Alternative Pita Bread

Whit and I decided to break out the roasted onion first!

I felt like I was at work when I was making this sandwich…lol I even cut it in half 🙂

We totally created a healthified version of the Tasty Turkey from our work! We first toasted the bagel, then added laughing cow instead of cream cheese on one side, humus on the other side, spinach, ham, avocado, tomatoes, and sprouts!

Bagel Verdict: Oh my gosh this bagel was amazing. It is crazy how this company can make such flavorful and satisfying bagels for only 110 calories, and it is not even a bagel thin. This was a real bagel. Einstein Bros. used to carry onion bagels, but then they got rid of them. This was my first time trying one and I absolutely loved it. It is nice to have different bagel flavors to try than those at my work. Thanks so much Western bagels, I cannot wait to try everything else.

On the side we had left over shrimp and grits and some alexia fries. Once again this was an at home fast food creation! lol. Instead of going out, be brought it to the kitch!

There was no afternoon snack because we literally slept from 1pm till dinner time. Oh well. Dinner was an all time favorite for Whit and I: Breakfast for dinner, served with some Chocolate Nesquick(and yes it made me feel like a kid again) 🙂

We used 1/2 cup of our Target Archer Farm Pumpkin Pancake mix, 1/2 tbs. of chia seeds, and almond milk to make the trio. The toppings were all the same this time: Granola, apple, and sugar free syrup.

Dessert was a Diana Milk Chocolate Banana Baby

**Verdict: I have decided that frozen bananas make the best dessert. They are so satisfying, and they do not leave you with a food hangover in the morning. Also they are very low cal. The milk chocolate flavor was only 130 calories. So far I still think the chocolate and peanut dipped ones are my favorite though.**

Sat.- 5/1

Guess what! We did not have work yesterday. We took it off. This was the first Saturday we have had off since back in February. That is a long time! So today our pictures were not dark and blurry. Instead of having to wake up at 5 am we got to sleep in all the way until 8:30. I woke up feeling like a princess. And what was totally worth waking up today was a HUGE sample of Moore Coffee.

**Verdict: This company knows there flavored Coffee 😉 Vermont Maple tasted like a cup of warm delicious pancakes dipped in Pure Maple Syrup. This coffee was so flavorful, and worth waking up for.

In or oaty Creation this morning: Apple Pie Oats

-1 pkt of Abundance Apple cinnamon Oats

-Pkt full of water, and a splash of milk

-Chia seeds

-Heated Cinnamon Agave Pink Lady Apple

-1 Apple Cinnamon Vitamuffin

-Silvered Almonds

Today consisted of not only relaxing, but hitting up the Coach Outlets Mall for some $expensive$ mothers day Shopping. While there, we all had lunch at the Food Court’s Subway. In this month’s issue of Self, I saw that they have a new Veggie Patty sandwich, so Whit and I gave it a try. And to my surprise, it was quite tasty. She was nice enough to buy me lunch, and a Peanut Butter cookie. 🙂 What a good little sister! Love ya Whit♥

It turns out the Coach Outlet was having a gigantic Sale on all their purses, just as good as Black Friday. When we walked in, it was a mad house. Ladies were grabbing bags and bumping into you every inch that you walked. The sale was 50% of any item, and then an additional 20% off each bag if you spend $250 or more. Holey crap! We could not believe what a good deal for coach!?*&# All of us got a killer deal on a bag for our mom, then we all splurged and got our own too. lol. Whit and I found this little cutie, and split the price.

Originally it was on sale for $179.99, then 50%  was $89 and an additional 20% only made this bag $62! And since we are sharing it we each only had to pay $31. OMG, and total it used to be a $294.00 bag. WOW!

After we got home from shopping, Court and I made a Banana Reeses Puff Smoothie:

  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 tsp of hershey’s unsweetened Cocca Powder
  • 12 reeses puff cereal pieces
  • 4 ice cubes

Blend up, and Pour into two glasses 🙂

Dinner lastnight involved our Eat Drink Be Vegan book, and this recipe

On the side of the Quinoa was a sweet potato that had Maple and Cinnamon on top! Yup Yup

Dessert: Okio’s Chocolate with half of this 100 cal fudge Petites

 Today- Sunday 5/2

Breakfast: PB and J Oats

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 water
  • 1 banana, half mashed in half sliced on top
  • 1 tbs of Strawberry Preserves
  • 1/2 tbs Naturally more PB
  • 1 tbs silvered almonds
  • cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds

PB and J Oats are the Best!

Our Experia socks finally came in the mail, since they support the feet where your baby fat has wore down over the years, I decided to wear the green pair to work for some extra support 😉

Some pretty interesting info: “Thorlo makes many different products for different activities, some with more cushioning. There are fat pads on the bottom of our feet, and as we age, these fat pads degenerate. We never get this fat back! Thorlo’s thick cushioned products help replace what you have lost, and actually help save what you still have. Wearing Thorlos will help you have less foot pain as you get older. The more fat pad you have on the bottom of your feet, the less pain you will have.”

**Verdict: These socks have incredible support and kept my feet soreless all day. I love the cushioned pads, and can’t wait to try them out running. Thanks Thorlo! And I love these so much, that Whit and I have talked about buying even more.

Lunch was our typical, fast go-to, weekend pick. Yogurt with an apple, and a bar.

We only had one of both of these flavors, and we both wanted to try them, so we split both bars.

**Verdict: Boomi Bars never fail to satisfy! This Macadamia Paradise one was SOOOO good! There was pineapple in it too, OMG Amazing!

And for an afternoon snack, a little sweet craving came into play so we turned to our Samples box for some good ol’ Sweet Riot Chocolate.

**Verdict: Love, love, love how different this chocolate is. It is dark chocolate, with crunchy carob, and raisins. The taste was perfectly sweet!

Tonight we went out to Dinner at a local mexican restaurant called Dora’s for Erika’s (future sister in-law) b-day, where Whit and I split a not-fried Chimichanga. Then, we went shopping at TJmaxx and all came home for some Strawberry cake with Butter Pecan Ice-cream. Hopefully ya’ll have a great night, and lets vow now to make it a good week 😉

XOXO Court & Whit
