Summer Shape-Up

Hello Hello lovelies!

        With a great response to the idea of us doing a Summer Shape-up plan from you all, we have decided to move forward with the plan beginning today. The idea of day one is eating 5 times in the day with foods that will keep you satisfied. We’re talking lean proteins, healthy carbs, fiber, healthy fats, and unsweetened drinks.

Meal 1 (Breakfast): Oatmeal Maple Berry Pancakes (AKA protein Pancakes) with some unsweetened green tea for a rev. up metabolism

Serves 1:

  • 3/4 cup Egg whites
  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned/rolled oats
  • 1/2 tsp sugar substitute or 1 pkt (we used 1 pkt of nunaturals stevia)
  • Lots of Cinnamon
  • 3 drops of maple extract
  • Cooking oil spray

Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup non-fat yogurt
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  1. Beat egg whites, banana, rolled oats, sugar substitute, cinnamon, and maple extract until smooth.
  2. Coat a small nonstick with cooking spray and heat it. Ladle 1/4 cup of batter into the skillet. Cook until batter is set around the edges(you’ll see little bubbles), flip and then cook until a light golden brown
  3. Repeat with remaining batter (you should end with 4 small/med pancakes). Then, serve topped with yogurt and Blueberries.

Oh look swirly fun, and a pretty pancake. lol 🙂

Meal 2 (Snack)- Kashi TLC Pumpkin Pie Bar ~These are some of our favorite health bars, because they are yummy, low in sugar and all natural. No high fructose corn syrup (the devil) in these puppies!!! You can buy them at basically any grocery store. Kashi is an amazing brand, and their cereals are delish as well!

Meal 3 (Lunch)- Kashi Frozen Pesto Pasta Primavera

**Some Foods that should help you eat for a better body**

 ♥Lean Proteins- Grilled Chicken, Fish, egg whites, non-fat cheese

♥Healthy Carbs- Brown rice, whole-wheat pasta, whole-wheat bread, or whole-grain cereal

♥Fiber- You get it from Fruits, Veggies, and healthy carbs

♥Healthy Fats- Olive oil, Fish(Tuna/Salmon), avocado

♥Unsweetened Drinks- Water and Tea Drink up 🙂

Some other things to keep in mind are sleep, water intake, and attitude. If you want to be physically fit, it is more than just the food your eating, and the exercise you are tending to.  That means get at least 7-8 hours of sleep, but for teens sometimes we need more like 9. Keep a reusable water bottle with you all day, and DRINK UP. Then, refill. Keeping the body hydrated is super important. It will not only hydrate your insides, but your skin will see a difference as well. Lastly put up inspirational quotes everywhere, they are a constant, they keep you in a healthy mindset.

Well, we are off to school, but tonight we will finish up with meals 4 and 5, and then talk about some other goodies. Have a fabulous day guys, and if your still not feeling the motivation for a summer shape-up, then get others involved to do it with you. Teamwork is the key to a huge success.

Happy Hump Day!

We finally did it!

        Today, we went to the Counslers and got signed up for the Post Secondary option our school offers. So now next year, we will only have to take 3 classes at school, and then we will take 2 at the Community college. If we pass, the school will reimburse us all of that money. And the best part is you get High School and college credit at the same time 🙂 YAY! I can’t wait to just go to school every other day, and then work on the other days for extra money$. That means by the time our senior year is over, we will have 12 credits to enter college with.

Lastnight we threw together some blueberry overnight oats, then added some toppings this morning. And to go along with that was some Moore Vermont maple coffee with a little coconut milk, cinnamon creamer, and purevia thrown in.  

 Blueberry Pie Overnight oats:

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 container of chobani blueberry greek yogurt
  • 1/2 container of blueberry dannon light n’ fit yogurt
  • 3 tbs of Pomegranate Kefir
  • 1 tbs coconut milk
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp flax
  • 1/2 cinnamon graham cracker sheet (Used underneath as crust)

Toppings:

  • Kashi Heart to heart warm cinnamon cereal
  • silvered almonds
  • unsweetened coconut
  • 1 chopped date

 

 

 Take a bite out of that, it was Fabuloso!

  And fresh berries!

 Since we finally finished off two nut butter jars last week, it was time to whip open our Naturally More Almond Butter.

 

 **Verdict: Just like the Naturally More Peanut butter we got sent, this one has Omega 3’s, and flaxseeds. The texture is great, and there is even more protein than traditional almond butters.

We used that almond butter to make PB banana chocolate smoothies for an afterschool snack.

 

PB Chocolate Banana Smoothie

In the mix: Serves 3

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups of unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/2 tsp unsweetened Hershey’s cocoa powder
  • 2 tbs almond butter

*Blend up, and enjoy!

This week is our older sister’s Final week at college, and she FORGOT HER PAPER! She called us frantically, and like good little sissy’s we are, we drove down to her school in rush hour traffic to deliver the paper. 😉 On the way home we jammed to Drive my soul by Lights. She is not a well-known artist from Canada, who has awesome music!

 

With the continuous cleaning out the fridge mission, our mom cooked up chicken and we used leftover toppings from last night to make taco salads. That is a little festive for Cinco De Mayo right? lol

In the mix:

  • Spinach/romaine leaves
  • Hormel Turkey chili
  • Seasoned Chicken breast
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Tomato
  • Guac
  • Salsa
  • Queso
  • Onions
  • Cheecha puffs

2 Days!

There is only 2 days left till Spring Break, and it is so hard to make it. We just got to keep thinking, it is only 7 Classes for TWO days. Then, were off to our week of relaxation, and a little work.  

Breakfast this morning used one of our fave Target Strawberry Cheesecake yogurts, to make Overnight Oats. 

 

 

 

 Paired alongside a Carmel Tea Latte. Just gotta love that Lipton tea! They really do have some yummy flavors, and you feel like you are drinking Coffee rather than tea. I mean who doesn’t like real chunks of Carmel in their tea? 

 

 Some Berries, Chia Seeds, Granola, silvered almonds, and a Dallop of Greek Yogurt were topped! 

 

  

 

 And Brought for a snack today is a Nature Valley Bar. Need to restock on some Luna ASAP! They are onsale at Sprouts this week. 

 

 And channeling our inner kids, we naturally packed a PB&J today with some cinnamon apples. In honor of Easter, a reeses egg was also thrown in. 

 

In health news today, the Skin Cancer Foundation wants tanning beds to be manufactured and labeled in such a way that the public is better educated about their danger. 

Personally, we think this is a great idea, because tanning beds are extremely dangerous devices. Alot of people are misinformed about the dangers of them, especially young people, who don’t want to be pasty as soon as the shorts come out. There is a safer alternative thought such as mistic tans, or Jergens Skin Glowing Lotion.
