PMS is a….

7 Jan

Well ladies I’ll let you finish that sentence. It is that time of the month for me this week and I have been experiencing unbearable cramps. I even missed school today because of it. Endometriosis is probably the reason for all of my pain. So far 3 out of the five women in our family have been told by a doctor that they have it. In case you have no idea what I am talking about here is a little bit more info. about it from google:

Endometriosis

Google Health   Mayo Clinic   Medline Plus   WebMD
Endometriosis is a condition in which the tissue that behaves like
the cells lining the uterus (endometrium) grows in other areas of the
body, causing pain, irregular bleeding, and possible infertility …

One of the horrible symptoms this carries is painful/heavy periods. Here is a link with more information: https://health.google.com/health/ref/Endometriosis

QOD: Do you experience painful cramps? If so, what do you do?

With that said, here’s a guide to soothe your cramps:

First off, having some kind of medication always helps.

“Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, are the most effective medications for treating painful menstrual cramps”.

Tip: Most medicine for menstrual cramps: Midol, Aleve, Advil, Motrin, Naproxen are only available over the counter. If your cramps are really bad, then consider seeing a doctor to get a prescription 🙂

Invest in some sort of heat!
“Since warmth helps to relax tight muscles, many women find that applying heat to the lower abdomen can relieve cramps.” I like the heating pad the best. You will not regret buying one, this thing is my best friend when I am on my period. The heat really does help soothe your cramps.

Exercise!
It will speed up your blood circulation, release endorphins(which are a natural pain-killer), and slow down the pain. I find that light cardio and yoga always helps. Yoga especially, because it feels good to stretch out your abdomen.

  Eat well/ Hydrate!
Drinking hot herbal tea will also help increase blood flow to your abdomen area. I have been drinking 1-2 cups everyday this week. It is just a natural home remedy that temporarily relieves the pain. Bananas are also a good thing to have. The potassium in them helps shut off the release of lactic acid from your cramps.

The sun is a shinin’ out, and today is in the upper 70’s. Aye yeah summer is so close, you can feel it! lol.  Anywho, the alarm went off at 5 AM, then we got up and made a yummalicious oat creation. Instead of using our typical almond milk in them, we used SO Delicious Unsweetened Coconut milk. The company sent us a generous amount of VIP coupons, so this bad boy was calling our name to try next.

** Verdict: So far, this brand coconut milk is fantastic! I love the creaminess it adds to oats, and the nutritional stats are phenomenal. We have had other coconut milk in the past, but this one is the BEST! And we plan to make some of our German chocolate oats, or an almond joy breakfast cookie with it, yummy stuff.

Toppings:

mmm, honey in oats is divine 😉

Today was a short day, so when we got out at 10:45, and hit up the gym. For a Pre-workout snack, we dug to the bottom of our “bar bag,” and had some Apple Soy Joy bars.

While at the gym we completed a treadmill circuit, and some Ab action.

We were SWEATY! After our sweat sessh, we hit up Target to look if they were having any good deals, then we drove home and had this fabulous lunch on the back deck. Using up some more of our Western Alternative Bagels, we had a bagel egg white sandwich and a pink lady smeared with cashew butter and cinnamon.

Well, time to go get some housework done, squeeze in a nap, and then a little HW. Tonight homemade nachos are sounding pretty good for dinner, using up some leftover wheat tortillas with Turkey Chile on top. YUM! Who knows? Plans and cravings always change. lol Oh and the Hill’s comes on tonight, yayayay.

Week 4 begins now…

26 Apr

 Happy Happy Monday 🙂

Hello Lovely people, how is your mountain of a monday going? I hope good! Ours has been pretty rad so far.

Check out what we made last night, it was Goji-Licious!

 In the mix:

  • 1/2 container of Chobani plain greek yogurt
  • 1/2 container of Hunt’s butterscotch pudding
  • 1 tablespoon of apple granola
  • 1 tablespoon of Kashi heart to heart
  • 2 mini Goji chocolate chip cookies
  • 1 mini Goji Orange mint chip cookie

Viola, a delish satisfying Yogurt mess 😉

Since it is Monday, we had a 5 AM wake-up call this morning. Breakfast was a simple hardy dish.

  • 13 PB puffins (to be specific. lol)
  • 1/2 cup of Kashi heart to heart warm Cinnamon
  • 1/2 sliced banana
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 tbs of silvered almonds
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

And to go with was 2 slices (50 cals each) of Sprouts Apple Cinnamon Raisin Bread.

We decided we would hit up the gym after second period today, so Whit and I split this Boomi Bar beauty!

**Verdict: Taste like cashew butter in bar form, which is awesome and very impressive

While at the gym, we completed:

  • 20 min of the eliptical at Incline of 3

  • 10 minutes of the bike at Incline of 3

  • Bikini Body Shape-Up Circuit out of this months Fitness Magazine

~Wow, we we’re SWEATY! This whole workout today was good and challenging. Loved it!

When we got home, we stretched it out then tried a few sips out of this Sport OWATER.

**Verdict: I love the all of the Sport OWATER flavors, I think they just simply taste better sweetened. Their unsweetened flavors don’t even compare to these ones, Tasty 🙂

Then, it was time to make some Lunch cause that workout left our tummies rumbling! Last week, we got a nice package from Fiber Gourmet filled with a ton of their neat products.

This company is awesome, and sells healthier Pasta, Desserts, and crackers.

And check out all the nutrition info all over the box. Needless to say, it is Chuck full of fiber and less calories than Traditional Mac&Cheese.

Explanation-As the Fiber goes up, the calories go down

Also mixed into our Mac was:

  • Tofu
  • Spinach
  • chickpeas
  • Pepper

And our classic go to side dish of splitting a Pink Lady Apple topped w/ Pumpkin, PB, and Cinnamon, oh my!

And now we’re going to prep lunch for tomorrow, then take a lovely Monday afternoon nap. Nothing beats an afternoon nap. 😉
