Snooze News

18 Feb

Hey Guys!

It has been a busy few weeks that have included a lot of changes. You may have noticed that our blog was down for a while, and that was just a misunderstanding with wordpress. So we are back up and running smoothly again. 🙂 We have missed you, and have some fun things to share.

First up, meet Dave!

This cutie is not only my work husband, but he is also an awesome friend who happens to share the same interest in healthy eating/living. As of recently, Dave has actually started his own blog called Balanced Earth, where he discusses a ” variety of subjects including: organic foods, environmental impacts of our decisions, why money is no longer needed, corporations and their need to control the world and finally how we can become balanced human beings in our daily life.”

It has been a while since we have done a food review, so instead of doing a product, this time we decided to take you guys on a fun adventure to a locally owned A.M. Eatery called Snooze. This was our first time going there, and my work hubby Dave made a great date to join Courtney and I.

As soon as we walked in, the place was hoppin’. Every table and bar stool was taken. There was even a line of people just waiting to put their name on the list. The whole restaurant was decorated with fun colors and designs. There were round booths everywhere, including the one we sat at in the middle of the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly, and the workers all had their own unique style to their uniform.

Everything on the menu sounded mouth-watering! Sometimes I think Court, Dave, and I are triplets, because instantly we all wanted to get the Snooze Continental. (Pictured Below)

So that we could try more than one thing, Court got this, and I decided to get the Red Velvet Pancakes.

Snooze Continental: “Our housemade granola, local Noosa yogurt, and an agave nectar drizzle, alongside a grapefruit brulée with your choice of toast. So European, yet Coloradoan.”~Verdict: *****This dish deserved 5 stars. First off, if you ever are in Colorado, you must try Noosa yogurt. It is luscious, and is probably some of the best yogurt I have ever had. Then, the grapefruit brulee tasted like a decadent dessert.

Red Velvet Pancakes!!!! WHAT!?*&$

” Red Velvet Pancakes Dive into our red velvet buttermilk pancakes, with a touch of cream cheese frosting, praline syrup and chopped pecans.” Verdict- All I can say is hello YUMMY. Red Velvet anything is delicious, and these were insanely good. When they brought it out, I started laughing, because seriously one of the pancakes was bigger than my head.

It would not be a day for these Chicka’s without some Coffee in out life, so you know what we ordered. Caramel Lattes.

If you’re looking for a fun delicious place to go have breakfast or brunch, check out Snooze. It is 100% Court&Whit approved.

Some of our other eats as of lately have looked like a healthy “Kid style” Lunches

The sweet and savory combo of a homemade French Toast Bagel Egg Sandwich. Agave Nectar, and egg beaters were the frosting on this creation. And just like we do at work, we grilled it up on the Panini Press.

Have you guys tried the new Pumpkin Spice flavor Vita-Tops?  We did! For all you pumpkin pie lovers out there, you must try them. Guilt Free, and so many possibilities.

Keeping it short and sweet.

QOD-What are some of your favorite Healthy Creations as of lately? (Recipes, Products, etc)

Life is a highway….

19 Dec

Boy has life been crazy lately! Sorry to keep you guys out of the bubble for so long…. but not to worry we’ll get ya up to date. The past few weeks were filled with….

>Welcoming our handsome nephew into the World! Meet Tyler Charles Davis. 🙂
I absolutely ♥ this little baby.

We all left for the hospital around 3 am and he was born at 11:55 am. So it was a loooonnngg morning…..

All of us (minus mom) sat in the waiting room all day 🙂

Homework and picture-taking took over most of the morning…

This did not even remind me of a hospital. There was a cozy fireplace right in the middle of the waiting room and…

A Christmas Tree!

Then it was time to welcome the first grand baby to the family!

With both sides of the family there, ten of us waited patiently to hold him.

I was a little nervous that he did not like me at first… as you can see he was very upset, but I am getting the hang of it now. I LOVE being an auntie.

And then of course he is a little angel for Whit, HA!

>Babysitting little Ty

Travis and Erica bring Tyler over every few days or so to see all of us.

Ashley is always good at rocking him right to sleep 🙂

This past week, he opened his eyes open for the first time.

Well that’s all of Tyler for now….

>College Finals (yuck!) + signing up for semester 2 classes:

– Forensic anthropology
-Ethics

> Last minute Christmas shopping!

I found a bunch of great gifts at a new store in town called Charming Charlie. Every heard of it?!? They have got the most awesome jewelry, handbags, accessories, etc.

> Our 18th birthday!

Oh man this was fun. Last year we went snow mobiling and this year we got our noses pierced (plus Whit got her cartilage pierced). This was crazy enough for us. We asked people what they did did for their 18th birthday, and the most common answer was clubbing. That really did not seem like much fun to us… so we kept it simple.

On the way to the Electric Crayon… we had fun with more picture taking 😛

The rest of our b-day consisted of smothered chile verde burritos, red velvet cheesecake, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader on the Wii, and The Goonies.

And the best present was new laptops since we are off to college next year… thanks mom and dad!

>Work… we are becoming shift leaders and getting a raise.

> And of course some great holiday food! Tis the season… to enjoy 😛 (Within reason lol!)

Yogurt mess with half a packet of cashew butter on top.
VERDICT: This packet of nut butter was probably my least favorite out of all the nut butters we received from Artisana. It had a very bland taste. Also I would recommend refrigerating it before eating.

A salad that consisted of:

→ Romaine
→ Morning Star meat
→ Carrots
→ Red onion
→ Tomato
→ Egg whites
→ Ritz crackers crumbled on top
→ Light Italian dressing

and a toasted Alternative Honey Wheat bagel.

1/2 packet of Pecan Butter over berry patch oats 🙂

VERDICT: This had a very similar taste to almond butter. It is definitely worth the buy if you like AB and PB as much as we do 😉

Also a package that we recieved a while back were Attune Bars~!

“Keeping your digestive system healthy is an important part of feeling your best. Attune’s probiotics provide a natural support against stress, poor diet, antibiotics, travel, and other elements that can throw your digestive system out of balance. When eaten daily, Attune probiotic wellness bars replenish and rebalance your system, helping to promote health and wellness, digestive comfort, and increased immunity. The result? You’re healthier, happier, and alive from the inside out.”

We all know that certain kinds of chocolate leave us constipated… but if you choose you chocolate wisely then you’ll be fine. These Attune Chocolate Probiotic bars are the perfect go to bars.

Here are all of the different flavors:
Chocolate Crisp Chocolate Crisp: Real, rich chocolate with rice crisps for a familiar, tasty crunch that’s just right!
Dark Chocolate Dark Chocolate*: The antioxidant power of smooth, dark chocolate with 68% cocoa content. A truly healthy pleasure!
Mint Chocolate Mint Chocolate: Real, rich chocolate and rice crisps mingle with refreshing mint flavor that will wake up your taste buds. That’s cool!
Blueberry Vanilla Blueberry Vanilla: Take a break from pure chocolate with a creamy, crispy combination that delivers the amazing flavor of fresh-picked blueberries and smooth vanilla ice cream. After one bite, you’ll be back for more.
Coffee Bean Dark Chocolate Coffee Bean Dark Chocolate: The richness of dark chocolate meets the satisfying crunch of whole coffee beans for a taste sensation that will wake up all of your senses
Raspberry Dark Chocolate Raspberry Dark Chocolate: A symphony of smooth dark chocolate jam-packed with sweet raspberries for a fresh, flavor combination that will make your tastebuds sing.
Milk Chocolate Almond Almond Milk Chocolate: The classic duo of milk chocolate and diced almonds come together for a satisfying, crunchy chocolate bar.

Chocolate Crisp Verdict: This tasted like an upgrade to your Kit-Kat, probably my second favorite out of the three bars.
Dark Chocolate Verdict: I have never really been a fan of dark chocolate just because of the after taste, but this one surprisingly left no after taste. It was rich… probably the way dark chocolate is supposed to taste.
Mint Chocolate Verdict: This one was the best out of the three! If there is one chocolate I love it is mint. It was like York Pattie without the filling.
Overall these chocolate bars were a little pricey at about $1-$2 per bar, but if you want good chocolate then it is going to cost you 😉

Chile Verde= Best Crock Pot dinner ever in Denver!

Our freezer is still chuck full of Manna Bread!

VERDICT: Had all the figgy taste that I was expecting. The figs in this bread definitely loosened up the dense taste.

And of course who does not love breakfast for dinner….. left over turkey in some egg whites.

EGGOS!

Whew! That was a lot but you are all caught up now 🙂 Have a great night guys.

QOD: Have you had your eighteenth birthday yet? If so, what did you do? If not, what are you going to do?

XOXO Court & Whit

Join us for Thanksgiving

26 Nov

 Hey Guys,

So the nice people over at Vitalicious, sent us a whole 12 pack of their new Apple Crumb Vita-tops, and lets just say there are not many left in the box as of now. This is seriously the best flavor they have ever came out with. I felt like I was eating a delicious Fat-filled Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake. Delish! 10/10! What you guys think? Have you tried them yet?

Our first sample of these was mashed into PB Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, which was awesome. Another way we loved these Vita’s was heated up in the microwave for 25 seconds, and then smeared with crunchy Peanut Butter 🙂

Now, Let us give you a look into Thanksgiving at our house…

“Hey Guys, come on in.”

Our sister Karstee has a bunch of cute holiday decorations, so we got out these little Pilgrim people to be festive!

Instead of cooking our turkey in the oven, we slow cook it all day long. And all these preparations in the kitchen would not be possible without some awesome Christmas music.

Now lets look at what we were serving up this year…

  • Turkey (It’s not like the movies, or magazine pretty ever lol)

  • Green Beans

  • Cranberry Sauce

  • Candied Sweet Potatoes

  • Veggies & Dip

  • The Famous Butt Rolls(Put two together in the muffin pan, and they cook up looking like butts, hence the name)

  • Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
  • Sage Stuffing
  • Chicken Stuffing

Fill that plate up good 😉

Make your way to the candle lit table

Pour yourself some sparkling Pear Cider

Then Enjoy time with the family. We always go around and say what we are each thankful for.

Then, play a few games(Scategories was this year) while enjoying the classic dessert of Pumpkin pie 😉

Finally, the night was concluded with watching “While you were Sleeping” (With Sandra Bullock). And then we went to sleep at about 8:30 in order to wake up at 11:30. We were crazy enough to get only 3 hours of sleep, and then hit up Old Navy at Midnight for some Black Friday deals. From there we went to Kohls, JCpenny, Sams Club, Wal-mart, TJMax, Sports Authority, and finally home by 7 AM for a LOOONNNG Nap! We got some awesome stuff 🙂

Now I want to know, what is one of the Top things on your wishlist this Holiday season?
