What is your take on Vitamins?

5 Jan

So for about the past three weeks, Courtney and I have been vitamin/supplement free, just to see the effect it would have on our body. We were trying to let our body’s take in nutrients on their own naturally by just simply eating healthy food and exercising.

The Result: Excessive tiredness, mood swings, grogginess, irregular down there, and breakouts to the skin. So basically, we are FOR SURE firm believers in taking some vitamins/supplements to aid your overall health 🙂

Currently, we take a kid gummy vitamin with a Vitamin-B 50 Complex pill right when we wake up, and a Biotin pill at lunch. The whole combo is energizing, and a better addition to the body after 3 weeks of no Vitamins. QOD: What is your take on Vitamins/Supplements?

Breakfast this morning consisted of Strawberry- Banana Overnight Oats:

-In the mix-

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp flax seeds
  • 1 6 oz container Chobani Strawberry Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1/2 sliced banana

Toppings:

  • Kashi GoLean crunch
  • Figs
  • Special K cereal
  • Skippy All Natural Honey PB
  • PB filled Pretzels

*All Served alongside some Sugar-Cookie Tea*

Snackage: Kashi TLC Honey Almond Flax Bar + CUTIE!

 Lunch:

  • French Toast Bagel(smeared with Honey PB, and Pumpkin Cream Cheese
  • Egg Beater Scramble

Toffee protein Pancakes from this recipe that we created in the summer.

All meals today were pretty much breakfast oriented, but who does not love breakfast? Right?

Just when you thought coffee couldn’t get any better

23 Nov

You probably already know how crazy of Coffee lovers we are, and when it comes to energy, we are always on the lookout for anything NEW! Typically everyday we will start the morning with a cup of coffee, make a double shot latte at work, or drink a 5-Hour Energy. Any coffee we usually drink has the effect of a caffeine crash after.

I don’t know if you guys have met Jessica yet, but she is a gorgeous 19-year-old Sophomore in college, who looks fashionable everyday, makes delicious eats (including her famous loaves), and just happens to be involved with a company that sells Healthy Organic Coffee. Being the great blogger friend she is, she sent us some of this coffee to sample.

 There is…

  • Gourmet Instant Latte
  • Instant Mocha
  • Instant Black Coffee

The main ingredient found in OrganoGold Healthy Coffee is Ganoderma Extract:

  • Ganoderma is a Chinese mushroom that has been used in Chinese medicine for over 4000 years and delivers miraculous health benefits. The Ganoderma in OrganoGold healthy coffee is 100% Certified Organic
  • Some people take ganoderma extract to improve the function of their kidneys. It can also be used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, eliminate insomnia and stress or lessen the side effects of chemotherapy.
  • It has been shown to promote the delivery of nutrients throughout the skin and even aid in the repair of skin that has been damaged due to overexposure to the sun.

How can OrganoGold Coffee be healthy?

Very Low Caffeine Regular coffee has approximately 135 mg of caffeine.

Tea has approximately 50 mg of caffeine.

A Diet Coke has 46 mg of caffeine.

One ounce of dark chocolate has 22 mg of caffeine.

OrganoGold Healthy Coffee has just 9 mg of caffeine.

Non-Acidic Coffee is too acidic, so unfortunately many people must avoid coffee or limit the number of cups they drink in a day.

Most coffee has a pH of 5.5

OrganoGold Healthy Coffee has a neutral pH between 7.3 and 7.5

What else can this healthy coffee do for you?

Standard Coffee                                             Healthy Coffee

>Very Acidic and Toxic                                      >Balances pH levels

>Raises Blood Pressure                                  >Natural detoxification

>Weakens Immune System                             >Strengthens immune system

>Dehydrates                                                        >Oxygenates the body

>Raises Stress Levels in the body                 >Provides calm energy

>Coffee jitters/caffeine crash              >No jitters /crash due to Ganoderma

Ganoderma has had a tremendous impact in the health community. After reading through this newspaper, Courtney and I were both just amazed by the results people have gotten. There are stories of no more PMS, headaches, lowered blood pressure, no more back pain, and most of all a dramatic increase in energy.

On Sunday morning, we chose to sample the Gourmet Instant Latte first!

With a Tablespoon of Coffee Mate’s Toffee Nut Creamer, 1/4 cup of steamed milk, 1 cup of hot water, a swirl of Whip Cream, and a dash of cinnamon, this was an Ultimate Latte! Better than Starbuck’s Toffee Nut Latte, I might add. lol.

This Yummy latte was paired with some Berry Patch Oats.

Mondays sampling included trying the Gourmet Instant Mocha.

Overall, this coffee taste awesome, and we loved the results. Those results included feeling extremely energized(No caffeine crash, was able to power through a HUMUNGO workout, as well as write an 8 page paper), felt like a cleanse for the body(won’t go into too much detail with that, but I’m sure you get the idea…lol), did not feel dehydrated like coffee usually can feel like, and no runny nose or allergy like symptoms for two days which I feel like I experience frequently.

This coffee was awesome you guys. TRY IT NOW! To purchase click here.

This morning, I had a hair appointment at the salon at 9 AM, so Court and I stopped by Starbucks on the way there for Carmel Brule Latte’s, and Apple Bran Muffins. Ultimate Combo 🙂

Court and I got haircuts this week in case you can’t tell. Isn’t her houndstooth jacket so cute?! I think so.

We wouldn’t be ditching school or anything…Dad said it was okay to have a sluff day. I mean we’re seniors okay, and my hair really did need those highlights. lol 🙂 Right?

Lunch was nothing too special, pretty much just random due to absolutely nothing in the fridge! With that said mommy girl gave us her debit card after lunch, and then we did all the grocery shopping for the week, both for Thanksgiving, and necessities.

For Dinner, Court whipped out this awesome dinner for us while I am working on this post. There is a Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla, salad, and sweet potato fries.

Fight the Colds

16 Nov

 Good Evening!

Today was an A day, meaning a no school day for us. We started it out with sleeping in tell the late hours of the morning about 9:30. Then, came downstairs to some Oatgurt. We have been battling with our school for the past two weeks about taking college courses next semester, because they were trying to talk us out of it. Luckily though, after having a meeting with the Assistant Principal and our counsler we got the whole thing worked out. Thank Goodness 🙂 Our school is only a few years old, so they are really uninformed about this program that we are currently in.

Todays workout was Day 3 of Fitnessista’s Bridal Bootcamp

1. Warm up: 5 minutes, cardio of choice, bringing it from low to moderate intensity (ie, start by walking and then bring it up to a jog by the end of 5 minutes) ~Instead we did Month 1 Insanity warm up

2. Plie squat and bicep curl– do 10 squat and curls, then hold the squat position and curl 10 times

3. Bent-over row and tricep kickback (15- I like to do it with both arms at once and feet under my hips, knees slightly bent. Make sure to gaze at the floor to keep your spine straight)

4. Lateral lunge and overhead press (10 on each side)

5. Single leg deadlift (10 on each side)

6. Saxon side bend (10 on each side)

7. Bosu calf raises (or calf raises on a step if you don’t have a Bosu- 15)

8. Push-ups (15- start in full plank position and drop to your knees, keeping your booty down if you need to)

Cardio blast 1: Burpees (1 minute) – repeat circuit #’s 2-8

Cardio blast 2: Suicide runs (run to right, touch the floor and run back to the left) 30 seconds, floor sprints 30 seconds – repeat circuit #’s 2-8

Cardio HIIT: 1 minute easy (walk or easy jog), followed by 30 seconds sprint (or add heavy, heavy resistance)- repeat for 15 minutes total

 Post-Workout Fuel: Kombucha!!

This was our first time trying this brand of Kombucha, and it tasted like Orange Soda! 🙂 Awesome. This brand has a little more sugar and carbs than GT’s Kombucha, but it taste WAY better.

Navitas Natural’s was extremely kind to send us once again another package. In this package we got Hemp seeds and another supply of Antioxidant Trail Mix that we got a while back from them.

“Hemp seeds have long been recognized as an excellent source of energy. With a rich nutty flavor that is reminiscent of a sunflower seed, Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds are pre-shelled, soft, and delicious. They can be eaten straight from the bag; sprinkled on top of vegetables, soups, yogurt, and cereals; mixed into baked recipes; or blended into a gourmet nut butter. This remarkable superfood is an excellent protein source – with eight grams of protein per 2 tablespoons– and contains all ten essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Hemp also offers a perfect balance of Omega 3, 6, and 9 (the Essential Fatty Acids), and is a good source of magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium. “~Navitas Naturals

The stats:

They looked kinda like Quinoa, or Couscous.

For lunch today, we decided to cook up a spaghetti Squash, some Broiled Tilapia, and throw in some of our new Hemp Seeds.

In the mix:

Serves 2

  • 2 cups of cooked spaghetti squash
  • 1 Bleu Cheese Laughing cow wedge (melted in)
  • Pepper
  • Sea Salt
  • Garlic Powder
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tbs Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds
  • Carrots
  • Onions
  • Green Bell Pepper
  • broccoli
  • Spinach

-2 Broiled Tilapia Rubbed w/ Old bay Seasoning, and Hot Wing Sauce

The Hemp Seeds were a great addition, and a good source of protein to refuel those muscles after that Intense workout.

With the cold weather, and all the sickness that is going around, we thought that we would tell you about some natural remedies for those nasty colds:

Got a cough?- Try Thyme

Add three tablespoons of dried thyme to one pint of boiling water. Let cool, then add one cup of honey. Take one teaspoon every hour as needed. You can store the mix in the fridge for up to three months.

Got a Runny Nose?- Try Garlic

Just add garlic to your meals for both a short-term treatment and long-term fortification against the next cold or flu virus

Got a Sore Throat?- Drink Some Tea

For a sore throat, the tea remedy is as old as time, it seems. Try jujube tea for an extra vitamin C boost.

Got a Headache?-Eat Some Carrots

Phytonutrients in fresh produce, like the beta-carotene in carrots, can reduce inflammation in the blood vessels of the brain. Eating two cups a day can help some people reduce headache incidence by 70 percent!

Digestive Track out of Whack-Eat Pineapple

Eating well during the holiday season is a goal more than a reality for many of us. All that bad food can make your digestive tract complain loudly.

Make a half cup of pineapple part of your routine to reduce intestinal inflammation, speed the breakdown of protein and, most important, reduce gas.

Not getting Good Sleep-Try Celery

Cold nights, the stress of the holiday season and the shifting hourglass sands brought on by the end of Daylight Savings can throw off your sleep pattern.

If all the usual non-medicinal remedies have failed you, try munching some celery for the sedative powers of the phthalides it contains.

Some other Go to Products when you feel that sickness coming on are:

We have tried both Emergen-C and Airborne in the past, and they work like a charm.

Well guys, have a great rest of your week 🙂
