About us

 COURT

                                                  WHIT

Hello Everyone, Let us introduce ourselves. We are Courtney and Whitney M. Identical twins. who are Utah born natives, but have spent most of our living life’s in Colorado. It is a beautiful state with a lot of crazy changing weather! We are the youngest, being 19, and come from a big family of seven. Currently we are entering our Sophomore year of college, and work together at a bagel shop called “Einstein Bros. Bagels.” Life is a little hectic, but we manage to live a healthy balanced school, work, and home life. We try to workout everyday, and eat good food to fuel our bodies. Like most people who work full-time jobs, it can be very difficult at times to round-up some energy to workout. To keep from losing motivation, we have taken full advantage of all of the parks Colorado has to offer. After work, there is nothing better than putting on some comfy clothes and going for a loong walk.  Just like any other teenagers, we like junk food, but we have it in moderation. The Key is Portion size. Too much of anything is not good for you. We are in fact identical twins, and people are constantly getting us confused. Truely we are each other’s other half, Best Friends for life! I think we are closer than any twin or BFF I have ever met. We absolutely love to cook and try new things. We started this blog our junior year of highschool and well continue to share out paths through college. Right now we are both uncertain about the future….but fitness and nutrition has always been a shared passion so we are thinking of becoming registered dietician and personal trainers.

Hey, great job guys 🙂 Its nice to see health conscious teenagers eating right and exercising. And also doing Insanity! (I do Insanity and P90X, and am very much a beachbody girl) Make sure though that when you are mindful of your portion size, you are also making sure you’re getting enough calories, especially with such an intense cardio workout.

Don’t lose sight of your goals!

  18. Marlee April 15, 2010 at 9:28 AM #

Hi I’m Marlee, I’ve been following Kath Eats for a while and she talks about ya’lls recipes all the time, so I decided to check your blog out, I’m trying to live healthy too, I run, play soccer, cheer, and I saw you two run and cheer too. Do you know how many calories you guys get in one day? Because I don’t really know how much I should get in one day? Thanks a million, Marlee

    • CourtandWhit April 15, 2010 at 11:42 PM #

We don’t typically keep an exact count on calories, but to figure out the right amt. you should get we reccomend using the following equation to maintain your current weight: 655 + (4.35 X weight in pounds) + (4.7 X height in inches) – (4.7 X age in years) That number should give you the amount of calories your body needs without excercise. Then, if you are very active multiply that number by 1.7 or if you are just moderatly active multiply it by 1.55. The final result is your reccomended caloric intake with excercise. Hope that helps 🙂

      • Marlee April 16, 2010 at 3:40 PM #

thank you girls! by the way, ya’lls blog is very very impressive, inspiring and helpful to me. I wish I could get into blogging:)

I just want to say that I’ve been following your blog for over a year now and you truly are a role model to me. I have struggled with anorexia for 4 years and do have my high and very low points. From reading your blog, I realized that it’s ok to indulge at times and what well balanced meals look like. I hope to one day become an RD as well as meet you. I know that you probably get tons of e-mails and comments and don’t respond to all of them but I honestly hope to hear from you. Also, how do u get out there on the blogging circut and how can I get noticed? I need some connections girlies! Your the best, God Bless, Nicole

Nicole, we’re happy to hear that all this blogging really helps someone. I hope your doing well with the anorexia, and our blog continues to help you overcome it 🙂 Do you have a blog currently?

Hey guys! I mentioned you in that blog post, but I never came back to your blog and followed up on it.

I have four friends who are twins (two sets) – 2 girls, 2 guys. The girls don’t know what they would do without each other; they are each other’s best friend. (I always thought it would be cool to have a built-in best friend! haha) The boys are extremely competitive; it’s hilarious.
    Twins are great!

I see you’ve done a lot of product reviews! I might have to take a few of your ideas! (I’ve been finding companies to e-mail about reviews by looking at other reviews people have blogged. :-P)

I’m going to add you guys to my Reader now, OK? I look forward to reading your blog!

    Alisha 🙂

You girls are inspiring! You will do so well in whatever career path you follow. Of course, I am biased to the nutrition/dietitian route, however 🙂 Keep up the great work, I can’t wait to read more!

Hi! I am a fellow teen that is also interested in healthy eating and exercise. I love all your recipes and ideas! You guys truly inspire me on those days when I don’t feel like getting up and working out at the gym. Keep up all that you’re doing.

Have you ever thought of creating a cookbook? That would be sweet. 🙂

  36. Ben Riddle August 3, 2010 at 9:55 PM #

Woah! I am SO glad I stumbled upon your blog! I am a fellow healthy foodie fighting to change the teenage perception of what “good food” really is! I’ll be a junior in highschool in Greenville, SC & I’ve started a “food revolution” of sorts at my school in – we are already beginning to see changes starting this year! I’ve met with Food Services about changing the menu and food offerings, and they are all for it! They are even going to start selling my recipe for granola in all of the schools in my district as a menu item, in addition to selling it by the pound at several locations! Check out my blog for more info, I’d love to get in touch soon! (I know, my blog needs updating badly. I’m working on getting a full scale website up an running asap!)

Its crazy how much we seem to have in common, and I’m so thankful that there are other teens out there just like me. I love to cook, eat and expiriment with food and baking, and I love to run! I work at Bavarian Pretzel Factory, an independent Bakery and traditional German restaurant – I bake breads and cakes all day. And make pretzels. And decorate and plate all sorts of things. AND get paid for it! Dream job? Yes! Oh, and I’ve just discovered all your recipes for over night oats and cottage cheese/fatfreeyo concoctions… you guys too?! I LOVE overnight oats and muesli type breakfasts.. Try baked sweet potato oats. And Summer Muesli (peaches, blue berries, oats, total honey almond flakes cereal, fatfreeyo, apples & milk. Refrig, add more milk and walnuts. Yumm!) Oh, and I also have a slight obsession with coffee. Just to top it all off.

Anyways.. I know I’m rambling and need to go to bed because I have to get up for work early (I have rye bread baking shift!)But I’m just so glad to have finally found others out there like me!

    • CourtandWhit August 3, 2010 at 10:38 PM #

I am so glad that you found us too! It is so awesome to finally find people with the same interests 🙂 I cannot believe that you started a “food revolution”. That is incredible! I’ve always wanted to do something like that, but have never known how to go about it. I looked at your recipe for your granola and it looks delicious and super healthy. I am thinking that Whit and I are going to have to make that soon, then we can do a whole post about your FOOD REVOLUTION!

I cannot believe how much we have in common either. Your job does sound like a dream job. I mean we just work in a bagel shop. The most enjoyable part of my job is probably making gourmet coffee for people. Right now I am trying to learn how to make special shapes when frothing the milk. lol All of your concoctions sound super yummy too. Thanks for the great ideas!

I cannot wait to read more!

Here is a link to our facebook group – I’d love to have your support by joining 🙂 http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=111098578930760&ref=search

In the next few months, we’re hoping to change the movement from being purely food based to including health and wellness in a concept that we like to call “Eat.Well.Mauldin” This name or “brand” so to speak, requires thinking to really understand – we want to inspire others to not only eat, but eat well. Concepts of eating have been blown drastically out of proportion by the media. Portions have increased, sugars have skyrocketed and many people have problems overeating. On the opposite end of the spectrum, many teens have also developed eating disorders with an obsession and fear of food – we aim to show our peers that eating WELL BALANCED meals is key to proper nutrition; this does allow for a little indulgence every now and then. We also want to show people that eating is only a portion of overall “wellness” or well being, and that exercise and activity is a vital part of being healthy. Since we have received the cooperation of Food Services and our cafeteria, we are shifting to a wellness movement with the hopes of inspiring teens of all levels of health and activity- average, overweight and underweight – to be informed, educated and interested about the foods they eat, proper nutrition and exercise. Its time to change the way teens think about health and vitality – we are building our bodies of tomorrow, today, and we believe that every teen deserves to be educated and knowledgeable about how to lead a healthy and happy life.

Your blog is everything I would want to say and post in a nutshell and is pretty much dead on with our Eat.Well. movement. Would you mind if I reposted some of your posts and recipes, or even bookmarked it on my blog for our readers to see? I think everyone could benefit from TeensEat, and I’d love for y’all to join our movement 🙂

        Best wishes and God Bless!

        Ben R.

      • CourtandWhit August 4, 2010 at 8:20 AM #

Sure you can use some of our post and recipes! The whole movement sounds great, we will be sure to join on facebook 🙂 You are awesome Ben!

I love that you guys are twins! I’ve always wanted to have a twin.. but I guess in a way I now do. For some reason I have had SO many people thinking that me and my sister are twins, it’s actually getting a bit ridiculous. It’s amusing though but can get tiring after awhile when I keep having to say that no, “I’m not a twin” or no, “I really have never talked to you before”. I can only imagine what it’s like when you actually ARE a twin.
